How does it affect me?
There are lots of changes happening with NEBOSH courses at the minute. SHEilds are receiving a lot of questions about how the changes will affect the students. We have put together a list of questions and answers to make it easier for students to understand the changes. This page will be updated with new questions and answers as we receive them.
New Vs old
When will the new NEBOSH Diploma course be available?
The International Diploma course will be available to study from June 2021 with the National Diploma course following soon after.
What if I am currently studying the old syllabus, will I be able to change onto the new NEBOSH Diploma course?
Yes, however, you will need to re-register with NEBOSH onto this new syllabus, which will incur a new enrolment fee of £60, please speak to your course advisor about this.
If I am studying the old syllabus, do I have to change onto the new one?
No, you can continue to study as you are and sit the examinations as normal twice a year in January and July, for Unit DNI submissions, the dates will be February, May, August, and November. The examinations will continue to be available until May 2026 for DNI and July 2026 for units A, B & C
If I sign up to the diploma now, will I be expected to take the old or the new syllabus?
You will be given the option to move over to the new syllabus.
If I have passed a unit in the old syllabus, but want to move to the new syllabus, will my passed unit transfer to the new syllabus?
Unfortunately not, there are no exemptions for the new examination format.
Will I have to pay SHEilds again for the new course?
No, existing customers will not be charged for moving over to the new NEBOSH Diploma course, however, your remaining course access duration will remain the same.
What are the examination and registration fees for the new NEBOSH Diploma?
The new NEBOSH exam fees are GBP £130 per Unit (3 x units = £390), plus a GBP £60 registration fee.
Where can I sit the exams for the new NEBOSH Diploma course?
The examinations are in an open book style and can be taken in your own home or workplace.
How many examinations are there in the new NEBOSH Diploma course?
The new syllabus is made up of 3 units, the DNI unit has been removed from the new syllabus, the assessment is reduced to:
ID/ND1 Assignment – approximately 60 hours
ID/ND2 Case study – approximately 40 hours
ID/ND3 Case study – approximately 40 hours
When are the exam dates for the new NEBOSH Diploma in occupational health and safety for professional’s qualification?

Am I required to have prior Learning?
Yes, you are expected to have completed the NEBOSH NG or IG certificate qualifications prior to enrolling onto the new NEBOSH Diploma course, you will be tested on this in the new examinations.
