Course Assessment

One Written Exam + One Assignment

There is one online examination to pass and one practical inspection report assignment to submit online.

Students get 6 months access and a maximum of 2 attempts at the course assessment.

How the Managing Safely course in Rail is graded

Managing safely course grades are broken down into two parts, an online exam and a project.

One online multi-choice examination consisting of 35 interactive questions.
One work-based project assignment – essentially this is a Risk Assessment, based on a real-life scenario assessed by your dedicated tutor.

The exam and project grades are combined together for an overall grade.

Course grades are based on percentages, as follows:

0 – 61.1 percent: Refer
61.2 percent and above: Pass

There may be a fee to post your IOSH Certificate of completion depending on delivery location.

Steps to Pass

There are 4 steps to passing the IOSH Managing Safely in Rail Qualification.

Take the online exam, remotely via Internet connection.
Submit the practical project assignment online to SHEilds tutors.

Once both the online exam & assignment are submitted, you’ll receive your final grade approximately 1 week later.
